| 11/02/2005 LAS VEGAS — Honda has unveiled the Sport Concept Civic Si, among other tuner variants of its production vehicles, as it dons the mantle of Vehicle Manufacturer of the Show here. The clean-as-a-whistle Sport Concept Civic Si, from the company's own in-house tuners, sports a stock 197-horsepower, 2.0-liter, VTEC four-cylinder engine but gets significant modifications to the chassis and exterior. Appearance changes encompass new carbon-fiber fascias front and rear, plus side skirts, rear diffuser, and a rear wing. The suspension has been lowered and the track widened. Brembo brakes are fitted, along with stiffer shocks and springs. Michelin Pilot Sport tires are mounted on 19-inch Advanced Concept Design wheels. Honda R&D Americas also showed the new factory-prepped Civic Si racing car that will compete in the U.S. Touring Car Championship series. Under the hood is a race-prepared engine with AEM cold-air intake and DC Sports exhaust. The car also features H&R suspension pieces and rides on Michelin Pilot Sport Competition rubber. The Civic Si isn't the only Honda getting the beauty treatment at SEMA. On display are several tuner variants of the Ridgeline pickup , including a Street Sport Concept Ridgeline and the All-Terrain Ridgeline Concept. What this means to you: It shouldn't take much extra effort to boost the image or the performance of the red-hot '06 Civic Si. Edmunds.com/Inside Line |
