The plant has an annual production capacity of 10,000 vehicles. In addition to welding and paint shops, the facility is equipped to perform engine and final vehicle assembly. Countrywide, HVN employs some 3,000 workers. The company plans to sell the cars at four dealerships—two in Hanoi and two in Ho Chi Minh City. Although the plant represents the company’s initial foray into the automotive market, HVN has been building motorcycles in Vietnam since December 1997, with annual sales of 617,000 units in 2005. Although the automobile market in Vietnam is still in its infancy, with only 35,000 units sold in all of 2005, analysts expect that to change in the coming years. Assembly Magazine |
