| 10/02/2006 WAKULLA SPRINGS, Fla. -- The local story is that Gremlin Hole in Wakulla Springs got its name from an AMC Gremlin spotted by a diver at the bottom of the sinkhole. The make and model was wrong, but there was a car rusting under 30 feet of water and debris. Volunteers hauled the Honda Civic out of the sinkhole on Saturday. The car was removed to celebrate National Public Land Day. Volunteers with Concerned Citizens of Wakulla, Friends of Wakulla Springs and the Florida Wildlife Federation also picked up trash and debris on their way to the sinkhole Saturday. In 2003, volunteers pulled a Thunderbird out of Cherokee Sinkhole. WFtv.com |
